In light of the theme from today, here I find an interesting story on MSN...from Pasadena, TX. It just keeps getting better...

Randomness
Getting the idea from my husband's posts, I figured I would just make a list of things I'm thinking about. Makes it easier and faster than typing out paragraph after paragraph of boring reading!

Good news comes on Fridays
So after getting my car towed to another shop, I finally got the call around 10:30 yesterday morning that the repairs were what Saturn had told me but it wasn't going to cost nearly as much. $287. I can't complain. That is so much better than the $425 at Saturn.
Then I got a call about 30 minutes later from Doug (at the shop) and he said that they also found that my idler pulley is making a lot of noise and should be replaced. He said better to do it now than later. So for another $30 I figured why not. It is still going to be cheaper than Saturn and something I don't have to worry about possibly costing me more damage later. A happy ending to this story - I can't complain. The cost of the parts at this shop were $5 cheaper than one part at Saturn. I love having friends who are always there to help.

Oh my car...
The one thing that I own that I am tied to most is my car. I always take care of it and am on top of any maintenance. I guess that comes from being my father's daughter - always being reminded to get anything checked out when I hear something. Which I do. Then today...

The Hunt...
So I had a job interview yesterday. First one for a teaching job unless you count the ridiculous process that a certain school district puts you though. Any who, the interview went very well. The principal and the teacher that were in the room were extremely nice and it was a very relaxing time.

Reduced Sugar = YUCK!
So I am trying to be good about the whole sugar intake and all of that. I really need to cut out bread but that is for another time. Today I tried making these yellow cupcaks with chocolate frosting. Everything has half the sugar than normal. Let me tell you that at first it is like everything I wanted. I LOVE yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Then about a minute after I eat it, the aftertaste is just HORRIBLE. I would rather go without the sugar than have this horrible taste in my mouth. So today I'm going to start going sugar free and see how long this lasts. I've given up sugar in my soda and started drinking like diet 7up and diet Dr. Pepper (yummy!) and I can't tell a difference. Next thing to give up...bread. That is going to be hard! Maybe I'll start by limiting myself to only so much per week. It is hard when I love pasta and all that too. I'm going to have to find some alternatives.

VMAs 2009
First -Yes it has been all over the news but what the heck is going on with Kanye West? What was he thinking taking away from Taylor Swift's win. Props to Beyonce for not even giving her speech and having Taylor come back out. Absolutely Kanye should be banned from the VMAs or at least he should be given a seat in the way far back so that someone has time to stop him from making a fool out of himself. Do you think iTunes will reimburse me for the money I have spent on a couple of his songs??

So Proud...
So proud of myself that is. I had woken up this morning around 6:15 and told myself that it was waaayyy too early. Go back to sleep. So I did till around 8:30 when I realized that neither Chris nor I had gotten the Sunday paper yet. We have had problems in the past where we've had our Sunday paper stolen or just not delivered. We didn't know which one so we actually set the alarm one Sunday morning for 5:00 and sat in the sports room to hear when/if the paper was being delivered and who could possibly be taking it. Once it hit 6:15 Chris was ready to go back to bed so he ended up just going out to get it and we fell back asleep. So ever since then one of us usually wakes up, sees what time it is, and rushes out to get the paper before it is stolen. We know it comes with the territory of living in an apartment.

3rd Grade Wisdom...
So today I'm subbing in 3rd grade. Just took my students down to their specials (Music and PE). We're talking about things before heading down and a couple of students had questions or stories to tell.
Here is a conversation between a boy and I (btw - very sweet kid - I subbed in his 2nd grade classroom last year a couple of times):

Fall Line Up
So I'm starting to get exited for all of the tv shows to come back this fall. How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Fringe, The Office...they can't start soon enough!
How I Met Your Mother - Does Ted finally meet the mother this season? Do we get to see her? Is this going to be the last season? We ended last season with Ted talking to (stupid) Stella and her husband and apparently in the background was "the mother".
Big Bang Theory - The guys end up at the North Pole on some assignment. Previews have been pretty funny with Raj, Wallowitz, and Sheldon talking about some secret. They all have beards which makes it even funnier. What will happen with Leonard and Penny? Remember, she didn't want him to go in the first place but couldn't tell him.

Happy Anniversary!
Today marks the 1 year that Chris and I have been together. I've heard some people say that if you can make it through the first year, you can make it through any year. My question is do I count the first year we started dating or the first year we were married? lol That first year of dating seems like forever ago even though it was only 6 years back. Either way I think that the first year was just fine and it helps that I have someone as kind as Chris to get through it with.
To celebrate, last night we went to dinner at Sullivan's Steakhouse in downtown Naperville. Not even thinking about it, we find all of these cars parked everywhere wondering what is going on. Yeah it was Naperville's Last Fling. Carnival rides and games blocked the streets as we're trying to make our 5:30 pm reservation. Luckily we made it.

Weather
What is going on? Mother Nature is really screwing with things. At first I thought it was my allergies - sneezing all the time. Then the sinus pressure started and started draining down the back of my throat starting a sore throat. Had that for a couple of days but still attributed it to the allergies. Now thankfully there is no infection (did you know you can tell that by the color of your snot? haha) but still pressure in my cheeks and sinuses. I feel like someone decided to pump up the air in my cheeks and make them swell. What was the name of those shoes that had the pump on them that would some how miraculously make your running or whatever better? Weren't they on a high tops? I'm pretty sure I had those with a kid. Well I'm pretty sure you could do that with my face right now and make it puff up even more. It doesn't look too different but it sure feels like I've been smacked in the face a few times.
Worst part is that I can never remember which medicine I take when this happens....I always forget...so again I resort to experimenting to see which one will work the best! Oh and I have ruled out the allergy medicine...it doesn't do crap!
